PICTURES WITH GRANDMA
- Another sunny, sunny Sunday!
- Got out of bed to semi-organize my thoughts for school. Trying to make sure again that I have everything ready to go, checking if I need to read anything before heading to class, etc. AHHH. The exhilaration, nervousness, and excitement has never been more INTENSE.
- Went for dim sum with the parents and the brother while the sister was stuck at work :( We brought her some leftovers thought!
- Costco was the place after to walk around and digest…but funny how I ended up buying myself an ice cream cone!
- Got back home, cleaned up the room, and vacuumed the house. As odd it sounds, there’s something that I like about sucking up all the dust bunnies…it’s like, Spiderman catching Doctor Octopus OR Agent P catching Dr. Doofenshmirtz!
- Dinner, shower, and then off to the grandma’s place to drop off some mooncakes and more importantly, to see how the lovely lady is fairing with Auntie Ha. We ended up taking pictures with her on the sister’s Macbook :) Yeah, the grandma is COOOOL that way

Homemade MOONCAKES
YESTERDAY:
- Woke up and got ready to head out to the Farmer’s Market again with Brendan and Henry! We rode our bikes there and went for a stroll at the most colourful, fun, and feel-good place on a Saturday morning
- The sweet-tooth kicked in as I walked by the cupcake table. No resistance at all. I bought a Vanilla Raspberry Creme Cupcake and a Chocolate Chip Sandwich Cookie. TO DIE FOR!!
- Bumped into our amazing teacher and chatted for a bit. Then, we made our way out with Brendan biking back home and I caught the train to the last day of the small festival right under the other train station
- Crecien, unfortunately, was not there, so I was manning the t-shirt table myself where I was selling leftover t-shirts as well. This week was much more festive, with more neighbours bringing out their goodies to sell! One family sold their home-picked figs and a few other ladies sold some delicious Mexican food.
- I met another amazing lady by the name of Grace. She was another volunteer for a different organization and we spent a great day together, getting giddy over the t-shirt she re-purposed into a skirt, talking about her studies and aspirations, and what she’s doing now. Myranda, the photographer was there as well! We grabbed lunch together and chatted the afternoon away :) January, an amazing art person who works at the neighbourhood house, came by to re-purpose some t-shirts into GORGEOUS, GORGEOUS new shirts. She is a mastermind.
- Biked back home and got ready to head out with the sister, Brendan, and Lucas to GardenWorks where they wanted to pick up some Sea Soil and blueberry bushes…for their dream garden!
- Back home to change, headed to grandma’s, ate dinner, took a nap ‘cause my horrible cramps were acting up, ate some of my mom’s DELICIOUS homemade mooncakes, and headed home early to sleep…EARLY.

STOMACH-ACHE
- Horrible me :( I snoozed my alarm clock that rang at 8:30 and slept until 9:50
- The meeting at the community centre started at 10:00
- I quickly gave Em a ring and was determined to be there in 10 minutes! Got out of bed, did a quick-style change, brushed, took a bit out of the leftover pizza, and ran out the door. I didn’t get far when I had to run back ‘cause my shoes were hurting my ankles. Thank goodness for the mother to offer me a ride to Em’s house for my bike
- Rode like the wind to the community centre and as I was putting the key into my lock to lock the bike, it wouldn’t open and I knew right then and there that it was a not-so-great morning. I called Em and Henry, but they were already in the morning, so I knew I had to bike downstairs to see if I could store it inside the centre somewhere. I was lucky again that lovely Jeanette had an extra bike lock! I ran back upstairs to lock it up and off I went into the meeting…semi-embarrassed!
- After the meeting, I bussed to the same Italian place I went out earlier this week to meet up with the siblings and my two wonderful cousins, Natasha and Nathan. Ate lunch and the brother and sister had to run off, so the three musketeers were off to eat some dessert! Bus rides took up most of the day, but we were able to finish our parfaits and bus back to the other side of the city to watch The Smurfs…which I found was EXTREMELY cute and amusing. And I surprisingly also was able to knit in the dark!
- Brought the two cousins back to my home where my aunt picked them up and I went inside my room, determined to clear off the things I had on my to-do list…most of it being school things. I did suffer from a MINI panic attack trying to make sure I had everything, my schedule was correct, what notes I had to print etc. etc…looking around and asking questions for a good few hours. OH, the exhilaration of going into university!
- Quick shopping at Superstore for pens and sharpeners and to my grandmas to pick up Moon Cakes

NOCTURNAL
YESTERDAY:
- Woke up in the morning to have some celery-peanut-butter-raisin sticks and then a chicken-carrot-cheese omelette. Sudden urge to be a super health nut that morning :)
- Then headed over to Em’s house to finish off the photo album for our amazing counsellor as a thank you gift! We were EFFICIENT and finished faster than we had thought it would take. We had quite a bit of time left before our next trip to our friend’s place, so we ended up making two trips near the mall to two different Shopper’s Drug Mart. Em couldn’t find what she needed in both, so we headed back home
- HEADED out again to Extra Foods to meet up with the elementary girls! Amazing Thursday night grocery shopping, chatting and lots of catching up, making vegetable and chicken stir-fry with fettuccine (forgot the broccoli and spinach!), and for dessert: brownie in a cup with custard! And like many other girls’ nights, nail polish was involved and I became a nail artist for a little while. As the night ended, we took our group photo, watched an extraordinary valedictorian speech, and said our SEE-YOU-SOONs
- Got back home and stayed up quite a while…doing nothing, as always. I swear I’m a nocturnal

BLOATED
LAST DAY OF AUGUST:
- Woke up early to get ready for shooting for the Food Scraps Pilot Project the city is hoping to start! Very exciting news! Eventually, everyone will be able to start throwing their non-compostable food scraps into the green bins where the City will then bring to their facility to recycle
- Tom and Mike were the two lovely guys who came over to work with the father, brother, and I. They brought over ingredients and the brother and I washed, chopped, and prepared everything for the fried rice
- After learning a few extra tips from the father to making fried rice, we finally began shooting. It was simple and really easy to do, but like with any film production, more than 5 takes is normal and a must. We ended up doing it close to 10 times and it was a wrap! Again, QUICK and SIMPLE. The fried rice was used to show that whatever scraps leftover can be dumped into the green bin as well
- After, Brendan came over to work on some things for our volunteer position with Quest Food Exchange. We set up a timeline, created the donation letter, sent out some emails, munched on my secret stash of chocolates and chocolate chip cookies. We WERE productive for sure!
- Em came over soon after and the three of us made our way over to the station to meet up with Anson and we bussed to dinner. Delicious veggie pasta shared with Em. Anson proudly finished his WHOLE plate of pasta…and received a pen for his hard work :)
- Left the restaurant BLOATED, but satisfied for sure! On the way back to the bus stop, we stopped by the thrift store and there I found a pack of red yarn for $5.99. BAM. I purchased it with a pair of shorts…and I am now determined to finish a circle scarf by…whenever, really.
- Finally got back home and watched Big Brother together accompanied with a bowl of vanilla ice cream with caramel and strawberry sauce and frozen blueberries
- What a way to end off another great night with friends
